Biography

Dr. John Bunting is a Senior Lecturer in the Intensive English Program at Georgia State University, where he has taught since 2001. His doctoral dissertation (GSU, 2013) was on ways in which L2 writing teachers integrate corpus tools in their knowledge base and practices. His other areas of interest include teacher training, corpus linguistics, and the use of technology in second language teaching and learning. He worked on the award-winning MacMillan English Dictionary for Advanced Learners (2002), and has written College Vocabulary 4 (2006, Cengage) and updated the second edition of the US version of Vocabulary in Use: High Intermediate(2010, Cambridge University Press). His most recent book, co-authored with the wonderful Dr. Luciana Diniz and using corpus materials developed by Dr. Randi Reppen, is Grammar and Beyond 4 (2012, Cambridge University Press). John has worked extensively on an online teacher training program (funded by USAID) for EFL teachers in Mexico with an amazing group of teachers and teacher-trainers from the National Pedagogical University in Mexico City, and has given workshops and presentations on vocabulary, technology, and corpus linguistics in the US and in various countries in Latin America.
