Spring 2015: Political Science Bilingual Course
The Political Science Department is offering a bilingual course for Spring 2015:
Corruption, Violence, and Culture: A Multidisciplinary Approach to the Study of the Political Culture
Are civil war, endemic violence, corruption, and poverty caused by a country’s “political culture?” This seminar explores the concept of political culture, where it comes from, and why it matters. We will rethink the relationship between a country’s political culture and the institutions that shape its political and economic development.
The primary language of classroom instruction in this course will be Spanish (English used when necessary). Readings and assignments will be in English. The course is meant to be an opportunity to study an important topic in Comparative Political Behavior in a bilingual setting. This course is offered on a pass/fail basis and is open to students from any major.
Prerequisites: Ability to speak and understand Spanish, a sense of humor and a sense of adventure.
