For Fall 2016, Dr. Julia Gaffield is offering the following course to all interested undergraduate students:
HIST 3620: Atlantic World History
MW 2:50pm – 4:35pm
The Atlantic World has been a space of cross-cultural contact, empire and nation-building, diasporas, and revolutions since the fifteenth century. The course will focus on transatlantic encounters in Africa, Europe, and the Americas between the fifteenth and eighteenth centuries. Topics explored will include colonialism, slavery, resistance and emancipation, the Haitian Revolution, and popular religion.
